A 4-month-old boy, who had an "emaciated" appearance, was found dead in his Las Vegas home, and now his mother has been sentenced in connection with his death, according to authorities.

At around 12:45 p.m. on April 1, 2022, officers responded to a residence after receiving a report of an infant who was cold to the touch and unresponsive.

According to an arrest report obtained by KVVU, that morning, Lindsey Bello, put her son, Miles Stano III, down for a nap around 6 a.m., checked on him about four hours later, and then at 12:40 p.m discovered he was no longer breathing.

The report states an autopsy performed by the Clark County Coroner showed the baby was “emaciated” and he had suffered bruising and abrasions as well as two skull fractures.

The newborn’s manner of death was determined to be a homicide caused by blunt force trauma.

Detectives searching a dumpster found the baby’s mattress pad as well as a wipe and blanket, which both had blood on them, police said.

During the investigation into the child’s death, Bello denied knowing how her son was injured.

Bello allegedly told police she may have been “exposed” during pregnancy to both cocaine and methamphetamine but that her baby was healthy, KVVU reported.

Bello’s boyfriend of around a year, Miles Stano Jr., also reportedly adamantly denied his involvement in the child’s death, including when he took a polygraph test, according to the station.

The report states that a witness claimed to investigators Bello allegedly said she gave the baby’s father, Stano, “permission” to throw their baby against the wall. The witness also alleged seeing a grave on April 7, 2022, that was dug in Bello and Stano’s backyard and speculated the parents planned the baby’s death, according to the report.

Other witnesses, however, allegedly overheard Bello taking responsibility for her son’s death, the report states.

The couple was arrested on April 28, 2022, and were being held without bail.

In April 2024, Bello took an Alford plea on charges of second-degree murder and child abuse, according to records obtained by KLAS. An Alford plea means the defendant does not admit guilt, but recognizes prosecutors have enough evidence to convince a jury.

On May 30, 2024, Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones sentenced Bello to 10 to 25 years in prison, officials said. With credit for time served, she will be eligible for release in 2032.

Stano also took an Alford plea on the same charges, and he is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
