Investigators reportedly found multiple unidentified body parts in a freezer inside the apartment. Officials said the freezer was taped shut in order to prevent the odor of the remains from escaping.

According to the Daily Mail, Heather Stines, 45, lived in the apartment and was detained after cops made the grisly discovery.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, Stine’s aunt said Stines and her husband, 45-year-old Nicholas McGee, lived in the Brooklyn apartment. However, relatives of McGee alleged he has been in jail in Virginia since September after he was accused of trying to cash a fraudulent check.

His sister-in-law alleged the couple have been arrested multiple times, the Daily Mail reported.

Stines allegedly was going through a hard time about a year ago after she learned her daughter died of an alleged drug overdose, the sister-in-law said. Stines’ aunt also claimed Stines has had several of her children taken away from her, according to the Daily Mail report.

A tenant who lives across the hall from Stines claimed to the outlet that people tried to break into Stines’ apartment at least twice to take money she allegedly owed for illegal substances.

According to the New York Post, the remains belonged to 39-year-old Kawsheen Gelzer, a missing Brooklyn alleged drug dealer. He was reportedly killed and dismembered in September after a fight over drugs.

Authorities said Gelzer is a sex offender who molested a 12-year-old boy in 2005. In addition, he allegedly served two years in prison for sexual abuse. He was released from custody in 2012.

Stines reportedly told police that her jailed husband killed Gelzer in September and stuck his body parts inside the fridge after they got into the alleged drug fight, The Post reported.

Stines and McGee have not been charged in Gelzer’s disappearance and death, officials said.
