Baby Found In 'State Of Decomposition' After Having His Skull Crushed, His Mom Is Now Accused Of Murder

A mom is accused of murder after a baby died from blunt force trauma, according to police.
On Sept. 12, police in Columbus, Ohio, were dispatched to a report of a baby who was not breathing.
Medics arrived and pronounced the 4-month-old baby dead, according to police.

During the initial investigation, experts were unable to determine a cause and manner of death, according to police.
On Sept. 13, a coroner determined the child died from blunt force trauma and the death was a homicide, police said. Detectives then arrested Melissa Thorp and charged her with murder in connection to the baby’s death.
Police said the victim was in a “state of decomposition” when they arrived at the scene and the baby’s skull had been crushed between two objects, according to WBNS.
