A Wheelchair-Bound Kansas Man Allegedly Admitted He Molested People in the Past. So, His Cousin Killed Him with a Throwing Knife.

A Kansas man fatally stabbed his cousin with a throwing knife after he claimed the cousin admitted to molesting someone, authorities said.

Jason Payne, 42, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2022, and a judge recently ordered him to serve 235 months behind bars, KWCH reported.

According to the station, On Jan. 12, 2021, police in Wichita found Payne in the road. When officers approached him, he admitted to murdering his cousin, identified as Michael Montgomery.

The defendant said Montgomery, a disabled and wheelchair-bound 52-year-old, allegedly admitted to him that at some point in the past he had molested people.

Payne then told officers he was angry, so he went to his bedroom, grabbed a knife and stabbed his cousin to death before stuffing the body inside a duffel bag and stashing it in a crawl space.

He then drank and did drugs until his confession to police.

After the confession, detectives went to Payne’s apartment, where they located discarded latex gloves and the victim’s wheelchair as well as his body in the bag.

An autopsy showed Montgomery suffered multiple stab wounds in the attack.
