Georgia man, 13-year-old charged with murder in alleged carjacking gone wrong, police said

A man and 13-year-old boy were arrested in connection with a fatal shooting and carjacking at a Walmart parking lot in Georgia, police said.

On July 7 at 9:33 p.m., Warner Robins police responded to a call of shots fired in a Walmart parking lot.

Authorities found Gregory Arnett, 52, seated in a parked car in the lot.

While he was waiting in his car, someone allegedly fired a shot that struck Arnett, according to police. Arnett was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died.

A witness said he “heard the shots and observed two males running from the scene,” according to police.

Investigators believe Arnett was shot during a carjacking incident.

On July 15, officers arrested Rickey Martin, Jr., 20, and a 13-year-old boy. They are both charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Police have not released the name of the teenage suspect.

Martin is being held at the Houston County Detention Center, and the juvenile is being held at a juvenile detention center in Warner Robins.
