A homeless man in Delaware is accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was sleeping outside a library, authorities said.

Dover police said they took Tywon Mack, 27, into custody and charged him with first-degree rape and robbery in connection to the incident that allegedly occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on May 15.

According to police, officers responding to the Dover Library located a 46-year-old woman who said she was sleeping near the building’s entrance when the suspect woke her up and allegedly stole a knife and phones she had on her.

“The victim told police she tried screaming for help but the suspect made threats against her life if she did not stop,” police officials said.

The suspect then allegedly raped the woman and fled on foot, police said, noting officers obtained video footage of the alleged incident and obtained a description of the suspect.

Detectives tracked down Mack in the lobby of the Bayhealth Kent Campus emergency room.

“Mack was wearing the same clothing as seen in the video of the incident and was found to be in possession of some of the victim’s property as well,” police claimed.

He was booked into the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown and was being held in lieu of a $180,000 cash bond.
