Around 4:30 a.m. Aug. 22, 2020, police responded to a 911 call to a home in Brigantine, a coastal town near Atlantic City.

At the residence, officers found Robert Declementi, 37, covered in blood, according to Breaking AC.

The murder suspect allegedly told the officers he killed his wife, 30-year-old Rachel Declementi, after she came home and “told me she cheated on me with someone from Applebee’s,” the outlet reported, citing a police affidavit.

The affidavit states blood stains seem to show the murder may have occurred in a back room and the victim’s body was then dragged to the front entryway of the house, passing through the kitchen.

Police allegedly recovered a hammer underneath a bloody rag in the kitchen, and a Swiffer mop and paper towels appeared to indicate there was an attempt to clean up the crime scene.

The victim reportedly suffered “multiple traumatic injuries to her head and face,” the affidavit states.

The suspect was booked into the Atlantic County Justice Facility and has been held there since his arrest.
