Woman accused of stabbing 87-year-old father, his 75-year-old girlfriend to death

A Pennsylvania woman is accused of stabbing her 87-year-old father and his 75-year-old girlfriend to death, according to prosecutors.
Sherry Lee Heffernan, 55, was charged with two counts of murder, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. She was also charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
Around 4 p.m. on Oct. 3, officers from the Surf City police in New Jersey responded to a home for a welfare check. When officers went inside, they found John Enders, 87, and Francoise Pitoy, 75, dead. The duo had multiple stab wounds.
The investigation determined the elderly couple was dating and Pitoy regularly stayed at the home, according to prosecutors.
Police determined Heffernan, Ender’s daughter, was the suspected killer.
Investigators did not reveal what led them to connect Heffernan to the alleged crimes or a possible motive for the slaying.
Heffernan was arrested at her Pennsylvania home on Oct. 4. She will be held in jail once she is returned to New Jersey, prosecutors said.
