Around 7:45 p.m. on June 3, the Scioto County Sheriff‘s Office received a call from a man who claimed to have “just shot someone and the person left in a vehicle,” from a home in Lucasville, Ohio.

Emergency dispatchers reportedly received a second 911 call from a woman, who claimed she had the shooting victim in her car and was on her way to the hospital, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities reportedly advised the woman to pull over at the Lucasville Park and Ride to meet with EMS.

The victim, Dakota Paul Lewis Watkins, 21, was then put in an ambulance and taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center, where he died from his injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies went to the 911 caller’s address on Sedan Crabtree Road and brought Samuel Ray Altman, 40, in for questioning.

Detectives reportedly determined Altman shot Watkins during an argument, according to the sheriff's office.

After interviewing multiple witnesses, police arrested Altman and charged him with first-degree murder. Altman is being held on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on June 7.

Sheriff's deputies continue to investigate and there could be more charges.
