Her boyfriend, 30-year-old Kevin Spencer, was also charged with criminal conspiracy, murder, endangering the welfare of a child, false reports, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, and other related charges, officials said.

According to family members, Bailey allegedly initially said the boy, who was last seen on Nov. 25, had been struck and killed by a car. However, relatives were unable to locate any report of the accident and no funeral services were held for the boy, WPVI reported.

The child’s cousin, Aiyana Parrish, told WPVI, “Once everybody started to get cops involved because we’re calling the children’s hospital and they’re like, ‘We’ve never heard of Damari Carter ever.'”

On Dec. 30, police launched an investigation after they received information about a missing child. Several sources told police that the mother had told them the child was hit by a car, but authorities found no records of a crash, KYW reported.
