Around 12:40 a.m. on July 1, Pittsburgh police responded to a reported shooting on Johnston Avenue. When they arrived, police found two people with gunshot wounds.

One was taken to the hospital in critical condition, police said. A second victim was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle. Authorities would later learn that a third person went to the hospital hours after the shooting with a gunshot wound.

One person died from their injuries, police said. The victim was identified as Darrian Davis.

A motive for the shooting has not been released.

Investigators identified a suspect, and weeks later they arrested Quentin Primus, 22. He was charged earlier this month with criminal homicide, aggravated assault and a host of other charges.

Primus was charged while he was in jail on unrelated charges, police said.
