On Sept. 23, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Pensacola home of Adolph Gable, 39, and found his wife suffering stab wounds and lying in a pool of blood in the hallway.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and deputies arrested Gable and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with what they determined was a domestic violence-related incident, the sheriff’s office said.

According to an arrest report obtained by WKRG, a witness who was in the home at the time of the stabbing said he could hear Gable and his wife arguing, so after approximately 15 minutes the witness put on headphones.

Five minutes later, the witness heard loud screaming, and when he opened the door to investigate he saw the victim lying in the hallway, according to the report.

The arrest report states a second witness was woken up by the argument and walked into the couple’s bedroom and saw the victim lying on the floor yelling and surrounded by blood.

Gables allegedly initially told investigators that he and his wife began to argue after he began packing his belongings so he could leave her and she bit and scratched him, according to the report.

He then claimed he pushed his wife to get her away from him and she fell on a knife that was on a nearby table and it went into her back, deputies said.

After serving a search warrant on the couple’s apartment, deputies determined the table the victim, who suffered a stab wound to the upper back, purportedly fell onto was too short and a television sitting on the table had a stab mark, the report states.

Gable said his wife damaged the television months before the deadly dispute, but a witness refuted his claims, saying it was working the previous evening, according to the report.

Gable was being held without bond at the Escambia County jail.
