Texas Teenager Accused Of Murdering Uber Driver, Dumping Her Body In Backyard

An 18-year-old man in Texas faces a murder charge after he allegedly killed a woman working as a ride-share driver, authorities said.

On Aug. 14, police in Bryan responded to a report of a woman found dead in the backyard of a home around 8:30 a.m., KBTX reported.

The victim, later identified as Althea Jenkins-Perry, 62, died from a gunshot wound.

According to a GoFundMe set up to help pay for funeral expenses, Jenkins was killed while driving for Uber, and police said her vehicle was stolen and it appeared her body had been dumped.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers located the victim’s vehicle in Del Rio and pulled over the driver, Martinez-Herrera.

According to arrest documents obtained by KBTX, as Martinez-Herrera pulled out his identification, a trooper spotted the victim’s license and asked about it.

Troopers claimed in the documents that the suspect allegedly responded that “it belonged to the woman that he killed.”
