Denver Professor Arrested After His Wife and Infant Daughter Found Dead at Home: Police
A professor from Denver was apprehended by authorities as a suspect in his wife's death, police shared.
On July 29, 2024, Nicholas Myklebust, 44, contacted the authorities to inform them about his wife's grievous condition, at their home, in North Syracuse Street, Denver Police Department shared.
Officers arrived at the scene and saw the woman lying on the floor, bleeding out of her body, the Denver Police Department claimed. The woman appeared to be suffering from blunt-force injuries. She was immediately taken to the hospital for further treatment, where she was later pronounced dead.
Officers also found the dead body of a child, later identified to be the suspect's daughter, police claimed. The child had no visible injuries on her body.
Nicholas Myklebust, apparently told the police that he believed the woman had suffered a fall, HuffPost reported.

During the investigation, it was found that the injuries sustained by the adult female were inconsistent with a fall, police shared. The suspect allegedly had bruising and blood on his knuckles along with scratches on the neck.
Nicholas Myklebust was taken into custody and charged with one count of first-degree for the homicide of the adult female, the Denver Police Department stated.
The Office of the Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death for both decedents through investigation, police said.
Nicholas Myklebust was identified as an associate professor in the English Department at Regis University in Denver, CBS News reported.
"Regis University is deeply saddened to learn that a member of our faculty, Nicholas Myklebust has been charged with a serious crime. This news is profoundly distressing for our entire community," the university said, HuffPost reported.
In 2021, another child allegedly died in Nicholas Myklebust's custody due to skull fractures, HuffPost reported. No charges were filed at that time.
