Elon Musk Warns Sun’s Expansion Will Eventually Destroy All Life on Earth, ‘Mars Is Life Insurance for Life Collectively’

Elon Musk's Mars mania is no news. For years, he has been reportedly investing large sums of money in this Red Planet pursuit, according to Futurism. Recently, the tech billionaire expanded on his space exploration reasons.

In an interview, he claimed that the sun is expanding and at one point, this will impact Earth. Hence, he believes that it is of paramount importance that humanity looks beyond Earth as its home. "Mars is life insurance for life collectively," Musk said. "So, eventually, all life on Earth will be destroyed by the Sun. The Sun is gradually expanding, and so we do at some point need to be a multi-planet civilization because Earth will be incinerated."
Musk is in favor of Mars because, compared to other planets in the solar system, it is the most suitable and reachable target, according to Space. The phenomenon Musk is talking about is indeed true and has long been predicted by experts. The sun is getting brighter and hotter as it ages, and that has led to the creation of more energy. This influx will eventually remove Earth's whole atmosphere and evaporate all its oceans. Considering how important atmosphere and oceans are to life, this event will possibly wipe out all beings from Earth or change their way of existence considerably. Musk claimed that humanity probably has around 450 million years before it gets too hot to stay on Earth.
One of Musk's most ambitious projects, Starship, is dedicated to his dream of saving humanity. The rocket will reportedly make human settlement on Mars more economically feasible. Starship has reportedly gone to space eight times. Two of its voyages took place in 2025. Both of them were supposedly somewhat successful. The rocket's first stage booster, Super Heavy, apparently exhibited good performance, but in the process, Starship's upper stage exploded. Rumors are rife that the rocket is ready for voyage number nine. Though no target date has been announced, the engines have supposedly already been test-fired.
In a social media post last month, Musk promised that Starship would soon go to Mars with Optimus explorer robots. The purpose of these robots and what they will do on Mars remains under wraps. Though Musk's concern is rooted in reality, some believe that it is not as immediate as Musk believes it to be, according to Futurism. Several experts have estimated that it will take six billion more years for the sun to completely swallow Earth. This implies that there is still some time before the 'apocalypse' to befall humanity.
At present, the environmental crisis is a much more pressing issue, which is being expedited by Musk's Mars pursuit, according to Futurism. His organization, SpaceX, has dumped wastewater in and around Texas, while his Starships have reportedly destroyed nearby vegetation and wildlife during their several launches. The billionaire has constantly been accused of breaking the rules intended to control emission levels with his industrial activities. Recently, he backed U.S. President Donald Trump's appeal to increase fossil fuel mining, which can compound the greenhouse gas present in the environment to dangerous levels, said the outlet.
