Some mistakes change a person's life forever. Adam Elnekaveh realized it in 2018, when a careless mistake almost took his life, according to LAD Bible. The mistake put him in a coma, but a miraculous recovery gave him a second chance.

Elnekaveh was on a holiday in Thailand when he was stopped by authorities during a motorcycle ride. The officials reprimanded him for not wearing a helmet and also levied a fine. After he was let go along with his friend, the man decided to take the stubborn call of not wearing a helmet again. For a while, everything was fine, but then his friend stopped the motorcycle, claiming that something was wrong.

Elnekaveh decided to take the reins into his own hands. "As I was a seasoned motorcyclist, I told him to give me his bike as he didn’t know what he was doing. It felt good. I went fast to tease my friend in an egotistical way," he recalled. The fitness enthusiast doesn't remember exactly whether he slipped or something hit his bike, but something happened, and he was lying flat on the ground. The motorcycle had suddenly stopped.

Elnekaveh claimed that the accident caused his skull to crack open, leaving his brain exposed. He believes spilled oil from the vehicle also went into his brain. As soon as he entered the hospital, medics did not give him much of a chance. His best friend later shared with his loved ones that the man's brain was lying on the floor.

The doctors gave him the diagnosis of Traumatic Brain Injury, according to KTLA5. He was also pronounced dead at one point, but later was determined to be in a comatose state. Professionals cautioned his family that there was likely no chance of his ever waking up again. But against all odds, he somehow woke up.

The surprising incident occurred ten days after the accident, stated LAD Bible. The doctors were stunned and also apologized to his parents for saying such grim things about the patient. In fact, when Elnekaveh woke up, his folks were handling hospice paperwork because doctors had firmly told them that their son would never move.

Even after Elnekaveh regained consciousness, his prognosis wasn't bright, according to ABC4. Even the smallest of physical actions was difficult for the man to do. He couldn't talk or walk properly, and had to relearn everything. However, he did not give up, and things slowly but steadily improved. It was a testament to his willpower that the man was able to get a driving license, just ten months after the incident.

There are days that he feels 'guilty' for removing the helmet and changing the course of his life. However, eventually the feeling settles down, and he is left with a sense of gratefulness for his present state. Currently, he is in the process of understanding how to balance his body, as one half still feels heavier than the other.

Elnekaveh understands that life will possibly never be like it once was, according to ABC4. As time has gone on, he has learnt to become more appreciative of the lessons he has garnered through the tough times. In 2024, his book Rebuilding Adam: The Tragedy came out, where he journaled all the thoughts he had during the recovery process.
