The viral post features a video of a man going into one of the lakes in the oasis. This lake seems to sport a calming blue shade and exhibit a massive depth. The man dips his legs into the water, and surprisingly, instead of sinking starts to float. The reason for this atypical behavior has been cited in the caption, which reads- "Egypt has such a high concentration of salt that it is impossible to sink in it." The man is on his back and seamlessly floating from one side. It truly feels like he is having the time of his life.

The comment section was in awe of the marvel. u/moisdefinate had a request for the man and wrote, "I'm not familiar with this at all, but I'd like to see him dive into the water, and the salt effortlessly brings him back to the top, not easing into the water."

There is a method behind the beauty that are the lakes of Siwa Oasis, according to HI DMC. These lakes are fed by underground springs, which contain a lot of salt and deposit it in layers in the water bodies. The presence of salt transform the lakes so much, that they become transparent and start exhibiting a turquoise hue. By nature these lakes are shallow and combined with high salt content, makes it very easy for individuals to float on them.

These lakes don't just provide visual comfort but also therapeutic benefits, according to many visitors. Certain individuals have claimed that bathing in these salt lakes have improved their skin conditions as well as muscle aches. Some think these improvements could be a consequence of high mineral content boasted by these salt lakes. Some of the most popular salt lakes in the Oasis are Lake Fatnas, Maraki Salt Ponds, Wadi El-Natrun, Lake Qarun (Fayoum), Qattara Depression and Birket Siwa.

These lakes possibly are composed 95% of salt, according to CSA. They are able to maintain its hyper salinity because the region in general experiences low rainfall with high evaporation rates every year. Lately the lakes have become popular worldwide because of its beauty and benefits. In 2007, the Siwa Oasis was deemed as a global medical and environmental tourism destination. Along with skin conditions, the lakes have also been speculated to help with issues of eyes and sinuses.

In popular culture Siwa has also gained the reputation of being a place exhibiting a 'special energy.' The energy has been attributed to the salt at the site, which supposedly help in expelling negative energy. As per experts the lakes are extremely safe as there is no risk of sinking, however vistors should be careful of interacting with the salt in the lakes. If the salt reaches a swimmer's eyes, then it could cause a lot of discomfort.
