YouTuber Films Beneath 'World's Deadliest River' and Results Are Chilling
Many social media influencers try to increase their following by making content on places, that are hard for people to experience. A YouTube creator @jack a snacks attempted to do something similar when he gave his followers a glimpse of what exactly is below the surface of Strid at Bolton Abbey, in his video.
The description box of the video stated that "The Strid at Bolton Abbey is world famous for having a 100% fatality rate." The water body was so dangerous because the mouth of the river Wharfe had been squeezed at the Strid, funneling hundreds of gallons of water through a tiny six-foot channel, ATI reported. This arrangement caused the water to travel faster in every direction, leading to burbles and whirlpools which suck in humans that enter the place.
The YouTuber shared his experience in the description box, calling it full of "CHAOS!" The video began with the YouTuber showing his audience the camera he used for his pursuit. The man went on to explain how he would attach the camera with the longest selfie stick in the world and with the help of some hardware equipment, put it down into the Strid.
Initially, when the YouTuber put the camera inside the waters, it seemed all quiet. After a while "millions of air bubbles running up the walls of the ledges" was noted by the man in the footage. He explains in the overlay text how "as these air bubbles rise....you fall...." The footage featured bubbles coming straight at the camera, as the camera struck a rocky surface. The man added, "This is what you would see if you were being dragged under..." He also noted how the color of the water changed, as the camera went deeper in the Strid. Throughout the video, the man tried to give his audience the authentic experience of how it felt to get pulled by the water in this place.
The YouTuber explained how the whole experience was jarring to human sensibilities. The comment section was filled with praise for the footage. @MrBallen appreciated the YouTuber for his work and wrote, "Really amazing that you did this. So creepy down there." @ds1868 believes that more protective measures need to be applied around the water body and commented, "Amazing footage, thanks for posting this. I'm really surprised the Strid isn't off limits to the general public."
