In a shocking turn of events, an 11-year-old boy from Colorado has been charged with first-degree murder of his little brother. According to the reports and authorities, he killed his five-year-old brother while he was taking a nap after a long school day.
Their great-aunt, Dawn Myles, has described the incident as “the most horrendous act that a human could commit on another human, especially a child.”

The boy killed has been identified as Elias Reliford, 5. He was found dead at his home in the Colorado suburb of Centennial on March 10, according to a report by WTSP.
According to the family, the incident took place on a regular afternoon after the pair returned from school. Reliford reportedly went for a nap, while his older brother was asked to do chores after school. “Then that’s when everything happened — during that time that he was asleep,” said their great-aunt.
The children’s parents are devastated following this disturbing incident. Myles said, “We would have never imagined the big brother that he was would hurt Elias.”
The details of how Reliford was killed have not been unveiled by authorities. At the same time, the family also declined to comment on it, as they process the unexpected incident.

According to Myles, the siblings really liked each other. They spent a great deal of time together, playing at home or across the street. The aunt said that Elias “was very outgoing. Just loved being outside. Outside was his thing.”
She added that the 5-year-old boy loved playing pranks and fire trucks. Myles told the outlet, “If you saw one brother, you saw the other one.”
The great-aunt continued, “The family is not well. There’s anger, there’s questions … there’s two losses here, you know, two brothers.” She said that the family wants to remember Elias as a “happy kid.”

“I would want to see him smile, ride his scooter. He was a happy kindergartener. He was a happy kid,” said the aunt.
Apart from the two of them, there is another sibling, the eldest, who is a 12-year-old. The whole family has since left their home, and are staying at hotels as they couldn’t stay where the horrific act happened. They are said to have been looking for an alternative. The 12-year-old is now staying with a family member in Louisiana, according to WTSP.
Meanwhile, the 11-year-old, charged with the murder, has been detained in the Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center, as revealed by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office.
