75-year-old Michigan Man Dies After Getting Punched By DoorDash Driver

A DoorDash driver allegedly punched a 75-year-old Michigan man in the face. The victim died months later from his injuries. According to authorities, the elderly man confronted the DoorDash driver about speeding in the neighborhood, leading to the violent altercation.

Ryan Turner, 41, admitted to punching Lloyd Poole, 75. The incident occurred on Dec. 28, 2025. Around 5:30 p.m., police were called to the Detroit suburb of Wixom. Upon arriving at a home near Barberry Circle and Windingway Drive, officers found an “unconscious and unresponsive” man.

Authorities were informed that the man had been involved in a road rage incident. Shortly afterward, Turner arrived at the Wixom Police Department. He admitted that he was the one who punched the man because he felt threatened. The DoorDash driver further stated that after the punch, Poole fell and hit his head.

He told investigators that the elderly man confronted him about speeding in the neighborhood, and the two became involved in a physical altercation. Turner was charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault.

He was released on a $35,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on May 27. However, now that the victim has died, he could face more serious charges. According to Fox 2 Detroit, Poole had remained in a coma since the incident.

Part of his skull was removed due to bleeding in the brain, and he died from his injuries last week. The prosecutor’s office confirmed in a statement that Turner could now face upgraded charges.

“Our office was saddened to learn of Lloyd Poole's passing. We will continue to seek justice for the Poole family. We are reviewing the case against his alleged assailant and may amend charges as appropriate based on the evidence,” the statement read.

According to authorities, Turner has a prior criminal record. In 2022, he was convicted in a separate road rage assault case. The victim’s family spoke about the incident in an interview with FOX 2.

Poole’s daughter, Jen Shaw, said, “He sucker-punched my dad, and my dad never got up, and he drove away. [He] could be like this for a day, could be like this for a week, or a year.”
