A Florida man has been arrested after investigators say he ran over his 86-year-old father multiple times with his truck while in the parking lot of a bar.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 11, officers responded to R Bar in Treasure Island in regard to a fatal hit-and-run crash, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators determined Thomas McKeown was walking towards a truck as it was backing into a parking spot in the bar parking lot.

McKeown allegedly fell to the ground in front of the truck. The driver of the truck reportedly ran over McKeown, dragging him in the parking lot, officials said.

According to authorities, “the truck then (reversed) and (moved) forward multiple times, running over him each time before leaving the scene.”

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Detectives later found evidence that led them to believe McKeown’s son, 61-year-old Mark McKeown, was allegedly the driver of the truck that hit and killed him, officials said.

Mark McKeown was taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of a crash that involved a death, authorities said.
