A woman was intoxicated and distracted by a cell phone when she caused a fatal crash, officials said.
Now, the driver — Kelsey Yvonne Crow, 31 — has been charged with manslaughter in connection to the death of Jimmy Wade Rich, 55, according to CBS 42.
On Jan. 6, Crow crashed into Rich’s car in Pell City, Alabama, according to the report.
Authorities said they believe the woman was both intoxicated and distracted by a cell phone at the time of the crash. Her blood alcohol content level was not released.
The station reported that a civil suit stated Crowd crossed the center line and Rich’s car head-on. Rich’s daughter was also injured in the wreck.
Crow was arrested this week after being indicted by a grand jury. Her bond was set at $1.5 million. A mugshot after her booking shows Crow crying and makeup running as she is processed into jail.
