Once at the scene, deputies found a man suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said.

The victim spoke with officers, claiming his daughter stabbed him in the home, WAFF reported.

The man then said his 8-year-old grandson was inside a second home. He requested police check on the child, explaining he was afraid his daughter, Jennifer Long, 41, was going to hurt him, according to WAFF.

At the second residence, the deputies came in contact with Long, who was coming down the stairs inside the home, officials said.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene. The boy's grandfather was airlifted to the hospital and was listed in critical condition but is expected to survive, WAFF reported.
