However, investigators believed her boyfriend, 19-year-old Abraham Hatch, was the person that caused Tyren’s extensive injuries.

On Aug. 15, Hatch turned himself in to police on capital murder charges.

The victim's grandmother spoke to Fox10 News and said Tyren Edwards was filled with joy in his short life.

“He’s like, an old man’s soul, a kid with an old man’s soul,” Ericka Massey told the news channel. “He had a soul of an old man. He was always smiling. He always tell me he loved me even when he in trouble.”
