Just after 8 a.m. April 17, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of a man in his 60s outside an East Jefferson County business.

Deputies watched surveillance footage and determined Tomeka Sims, 46, and the unnamed victim were at the location about 10 p.m. the prior evening and began fighting.

Sims allegedly got into her boyfriend’s car and started driving, dragging the man until he eventually fell to the ground.

Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said Sims drove away but “returned in the vehicle and slowly approached the male while he was still laying on the ground,” according to The Patch. “It appeared as though the female rolled over him multiple times with the vehicle during the altercation.”

“She then left the scene and returned a second time and attempted to roll over the victim again with the vehicle but was unsuccessful, as the victim had rolled underneath a tractor trailer bed,” Money said.

Officials said Sims allegedly drove off for the final time in her boyfriend’s car and never returned to offer the victim any help.

Sims, who is charged with murder, was being held on $50,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail.
