Victim Kidnapped From Phoenix Apartment, Then Murdered And Dismembered In Another Town, Police Say

A victim in Arizona was kidnapped, murdered and then dismembered, according to reports. Now, the man responsible for his alleged ordeal is behind bars.

This week, Phoenix police arrested John Cole in connection to the death of Antoine Smith, according to KTAR.

The investigation started on Sept. 19 after police got a missing person case, according to police.

Cole was later stopped on I-10 on Sept. 20, according to KTAR. Police searched his car and found human remains that are believed to be Smith.

The suspect told police he strangled Smith to death after the victim attacked him when they stopped to go to the bathroom on the way to Tucson, Arizona, police said. Cole then took the body to his home in Tucson, bought cleaning supplies and tools to dismember the victim.

Police believe Smith was abducted from his Phoenix apartment last week before being killed in the Tucson area, according to KTAR.

Cole told police where they could find the rest of the victim’s remains.

This week, police charged Cole with first-degree murder and other counts. He is being held in jail on $3 million bond.
