An 8-year-old boy was arrested in Alabama after he allegedly stole someone’s car at gunpoint and then led police on a car chase before crashing into another vehicle, according to officials.
Around 11 a.m. on July 11, officers responded to a robbery call in Montgomery and learned the 8-year-old boy reportedly committed an armed carjacking, WFSA-TV reported.
The stolen car was located and officers pursued it, but ended it after the driver refused to pull over, authorities said.
The boy eventually collided with a car near West Fairview Avenue and South Court Street, officers said. No one was injured in the crash, WFSA-TV reported.
Maj. Saba Coleman told WFSA-TV that the boy was taken into custody and has been charged with first-degree robbery, attempting to elude and certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm.
He was taken to the Montgomery County Youth Detention Facility, officials said.

Coleman said the gun was recovered at the scene, but no other information was provided.
A witness who was following the vehicle told WFSA-TV, “Whenever I realized it was a little boy I knew I had to follow them and make sure no one got hit and that he got caught because don’t want him driving all over Montgomery, causing more accidents or hurting himself or hurting other people.”
