A security guard told police that a suspect threw a brick at him, so he shot and killed the person. Now, officials say the case is one of murder.
When officers arrived, they found 35-year-old Kevin Abel Torres with a gunshot wound, according to police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A security guard — later identified as 39-year-old Keith Luckey — told police that Torres threw a brick at him. That led Luckey to shoot the victim dead, he told police.
Last week, police announced they arrested Luckey and charged him with first-degree murder.
Authorities said the arrest came after discussing the case with prosecutors but did not detail why they believed it was a murder.
