The death of billionaire fashion magnate Isak Andic in December 2024 has taken a shocking turn, with the death of the 71-year-old, who reportedly died after a fatal fall from a cliff, now being treated as a possible homicide.

Preliminary reports stated that Andic fell approximately 100 meters and suffered multiple injuries. He died at the scene due to the severity of the fall. Authorities had initially closed the case as an accidental death. However, the only known witness to the incident, Andic’s son Jonathan Andic, has now reportedly become a prime suspect in the investigation.

Jonathan Andic Turns Prime Suspect In Isak Andic’s Possible Homicide

The death investigation involving Isak Andic, owner of the fashion label Mango, reportedly shifted from an accidental death inquiry to a possible homicide investigation after a Spanish court ordered the case reopened, citing concerns over an incomplete police report.

Authorities began focusing on Jonathan Andic after investigators reportedly found inconsistencies in his account of the moments before his father’s fatal fall. The 45-year-old allegedly claimed he heard rocks tumbling down the cliff and, when he turned around, saw his father already falling.

Following the court-ordered reinvestigation, police questioned Jonathan again and reportedly found discrepancies in his statements. Investigators also alleged that Jonathan submitted a different cellphone as evidence than the one he had actually been carrying during the hike.

On May 19, 2026, Catalan police arrested Jonathan Andic on suspicion of involvement in his father’s death. The arrest reportedly followed a court directive that cited several suspicious circumstances, including allegations of a strained father-son relationship that investigators considered a possible motive in the death of Isak Andic. The judge also referenced an autopsy report that allegedly cast doubt on the theory that Isak accidentally slipped and fell from the cliff.

After his arrest, Jonathan was ordered to surrender his passport and comply with weekly check-ins with authorities. A judge in Barcelona set his bail at 1 million euros, which he posted the same day. He was later released without formal charges being filed.

Following the arrest and release, Jonathan’s attorney, Cristobal Martell, described the situation as a painful ordeal and defended his client as an innocent man who had become the target of public stigma.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Andic family said there was no legitimate evidence linking Jonathan to the alleged homicide, while also pledging the family’s full cooperation with investigators.

Isak And Jonathan’s Past History Of Alleged Fallout

The hint of a possible rift in the father-son relationship between Isak and Jonathan became apparent a few years after the latter joined the fashion label. He spearheaded Mango Men in 2007, which was the brand’s first menswear line. Jonathan joined the board of directors in 2012 and paved his way to become the vice chairman.

However, things changed in 2014 when Isak ousted Jonathan from the position. The move was done in the name of broader operational changes in the management, considering the brand’s successive losses. By June 2025, Jonathan stepped down from being the global director of Mango Man.
