A 102-year-old man was found dead in his home on Thursday after being murdered with axe, police say.

A suspect in the killing was located and found to be in possession of an axe and knife.Police say that the victim had multiple contusions and lacerations, according to ABC7

Jason Shakib told ABC7 that the victim was his grandfather, Youssef Mahboubian.

Mahboubian was found about an hour after officers arrested a man in the area who was accused of assault.

Police received multiple reports that a suspect was walking around a nearby neighborhood holding a knife and a machete while walking his dog, ABC7 reported.

When officers took the suspect into custody for assault with a deadly weapon, they recovered an axe and a knife.

One person sustained minor injuries during the assault, but did not need to be hospitalized, according to ABC7.

The suspect has been identified as Adam Dimmerman, 47, who was arrested on suspicion of Mahboubian’s death. He is being held on $2 million bail.

"My wife is horrified to hear he was murdered by some ax-wielding psychopath," Shakib told ABC7. "He must have been deranged, or on drugs or something."

Shakib told ABC7 says his grandfather was dedicated to his family. He was married to his wife for 65 years.
