Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Killing Mother

During the sentencing hearing, Nicholas Jain said, “I want to thank the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol for their professional and diligent work in investigating and solving this homicide and in all the cases they handle.”

The killing occurred in 2018. On Dec. 21, 2018, the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man who dispatchers said sounded confused.

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies responded to the 300 block of North Main Street in Cardwell, where they found a naked man answering the door. Authorities later identified him as Trevor John Huber. When officers asked about his mother, deputies said Huber appeared to be under the influence of drugs.

According to one deputy, “the male again appeared to be disoriented and possibly impaired by illegal narcotics.” When officers entered the home, they discovered the decapitated body of Charlotte Wilson.

Huber Admitted To Killing His Mother

Trevor John Huber was taken into custody at the scene. Authorities identified the victim as his mother, Charlotte Wilson. During a subsequent search of the home, investigators also located Wilson’s severed head, along with a bloody knife and hammer that detectives believe were used in the killing.

During a Mirandized interview, Huber allegedly told investigators that “he was concerned he killed his mother.” Authorities said he also suggested a possible motive, claiming he believed his mother was trying to poison him.

Investigators further alleged that Huber later wrote “I killed my mother” on a piece of paper before tearing it up and swallowing it.
