Three children — aged 5, 3 and 2 — and woman found murdered at 'gruesome' scene. Police arrest suspect in case.

Three children and a woman were killed in a Fort Wayne, Indiana home on June 2 and police have called the murder scene "gruesome."

Fort Wayne Police arrested Cohen Bennett Hancz-Barron in connection to the slayings.

Around 10:45 a.m., police and medics were called to a home on an unknown problem, according to a police activity log.

Inside the home, authorities found three children and a woman dead.

The Allen County Coroner's Office identified the adult victim as Sarah Nicole Zent, 26. She died from strangulation and stab wounds.

The children were identified as Carter Matthew Zent, 5, Ashton Duwayne Zent, 3, and Aubree Christine, 2, according to the coroner's office. All of the children died from stab wounds.

Police spokesman Sgt. Jeremy Webb called the scene “gruesome,” according to WSPA. But, police have not released a motive for the alleged murders.

“It’s a very gruesome scene in there,” Webb told WSPA. “There are three murdered children. We need the public’s help to track down this suspect.”

Family and friends identified Hancz-Barron as a suspect. Around 5:15 p.m., Fort Wayne police arrested Hancz-Barron at an apartment complex in Lafayette, Indiana.

He was brought back to Fort Wayne, where he faces four counts of murder.

A representative from the Zent family provided a statement, according to WSPA.

“This is a very devastating time for our family. Please give us time to process the horrific events that have occurred today.  Our daughter was a very special person to our family. Please be respectful of our family’s privacy at this time.”
