The Bronx Has Seen Multiple Pedestrian Accidents in Recent Months

The news comes just a few days after another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the Bronx. On April 1, a man in his 40s was injured and hospitalized after being hit by a car while walking around Bainbridge Avenue and Van Cortlandt Avenue East. An ambulance was called to the scene at 12:53 PM, and emergency responders rushed the man to the hospital.

Earlier on March 25, Williejoe Delgado, 23, was arrested for allegedly striking six pedestrians. The tragedy happened back in July 2025, when Delgado was driving a Ford Mustang. Shortly before 11 AM, he took a left turn on Courtland Avenue and hit a pedestrian. The driver then lost control of the vehicle.

He jumped the curb and plowed into five more people. But Delgado refused to stop and drove away. The victims included three men and three women. Fortunately, everyone survived after being hospitalized with injuries. Meanwhile, the sidewalk across Courtlandt Avenue was badly damaged.

“Once I heard the noise, I turned around, and it was already on the curb. It immediately backed up and fled. The ambulance came very quickly. There was one going by, and it stopped,” a witness told CBS News about the collision.

After a nine-month-long investigation, Delgado was been taken into custody and charged with attempted murder. “This defendant allegedly struck six pedestrians, one in the roadway and five on a sidewalk. The injuries to two of the victims were so severe they experience pain and limited mobility to this day,” Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced.
