22-year-old Connecticut man died from gunshot wound after shots fired between vehicles

A 22-year-old man died in a shooting on Jan. 15, and the passenger of the vehicle he was driving has been charged.

Around 10:45 p.m. Jan. 15, police responded to Fairview Avenue and Arch Street in Hamden, Connecticut for a report of shots fired, WFSB reported.

Cops say two vehicles were involved, and a passenger fired a handgun from the victim’s vehicle. The driver was identified as Herman Bellamy, 22, according to WFSB.

The passenger was identified as 19-year-old Charles Hill, WFSB reported.

Responding officers said when they got there, they found one of the vehicles in the road of Fairview Avenue with Bellamy inside who had been shot, WFSB reported. Bellamy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ballistic evidence and multiple handguns were recovered at the scene, WFSB reported.

Hill has been charged with criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and illegal discharge of a firearm, according to WFSB.

His bond was set at $750,000. Police are still searching for other suspects.
