Connecticut woman stole DOT truck and crashed it while driving under the influence, cops say

A woman is accused of stealing a Department of Transportation truck and crashing it while driving under the influence.

Around 10 a.m. on March 10, Connecticut State Police in North Haven, Connecticut, were told of a stolen DOT truck, according to an incident report.

Before troopers arrived, they learned the stolen vehicle crashed into another car. When authorities got to the scene, they saw the truck in the road with its font end against a tree.

The driver was identified as Dinah Nelson, 24. Troopers determined she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the report.

She was arrested and during processing, Nelson became combative and hit a police officer in the face, the report noted.

Nelson was charged with operating under the influence, first-degree larceny, assault on an officer and traffic offenses. Her bond was set at $25,000.

The early morning arrest appeared to get the best of Nelson as she couldn’t keep her head up for her mugshot. She appeared to be resting her head on her shoulder as the picture was snapped.
