A 33-year-old man faces multiple rape charges for a relationship he had with a minor, police said.
Last week, police in Dover, Delaware, arrested Norman Merritt in connection to the case. Authorities announced he was charged with two counts of second-degree rape, four counts of third-degree rape and unlawful sexual contact.
Investigators said Merritt had a relationship with the minor between December and July. The age of the victim was not released.
On Aug. 15, a member of the victim’s family contacted police to tell them about the allegations.
Police spoke to the victim, and it was determined Merritt performed sex acts on the child at least twice.
Merritt turned himself in to police and was booked at a jail, where bond was set at $363,000.
