Drunk Woman Plows Through Accident Scene, Runs Over Body of Man Who Had Already Been Hit: Texas Cops

The crash occurred on a poorly lit stretch of highway.
In a bizarre turn of events, officials said a woman was arrested after she drove into an active crime scene in west Bexar County, Texas, and ran over a man who had already been struck by two other vehicles. The suspect also nearly drove into two deputies on duty, authorities said.
The Series of Events
According to KSAT, deputies responded to a vehicle-pedestrian crash in the 2000 block of State Highway 211 and near Lambda Drive.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said a 61-year-old man was fatally struck by two drivers who failed to notice him on the road. The first driver appeared to clip the victim with his vehicle’s side mirror, causing the man to lose balance and fall to the ground.
A woman was arrested after she drove into an active crime scene in west Bexar County.
As a result, the driver behind did not have time to react and reportedly ran over the pedestrian. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Both drivers are cooperating with the investigation and do not appear to be at fault, authorities said.
While deputies were investigating the area, a third driver drove through barricades into the crime scene and ran over the victim again.
Third Driver Was Intoxicated?
The third driver, Tionne Spears, 26, nearly struck deputies who were working at the scene, Salazar said.
Salazar said Spears was in possession of khat, a plant native to Africa that acts as a stimulant. It contains cathinone, an amphetamine-like stimulant believed to cause excitement, loss of appetite, and euphoria. “(It) ups their pain tolerance,” Salazar said.
Salazar said he had never witnessed anyone drive through an active crime scene. “I’ve been doing this job 33 years now and never heard of somebody barreling through a crime scene like that and running over a dead body that’s already on the roadway,” Salazar said. He added that a toxicology report of Spears will determine whether Spears was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
Spears in Custody
Salazar said deputies took Spears into custody and booked her into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. She faces three charges: driving while intoxicated, abuse of a corpse, and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group two, between one and four grams.
“Thankfully, our investigators were not hurt. But again, it’s unfortunate that this poor victim, who’d already been through a lot, had his body run over as a result of this lady’s level of intoxication and her unawareness of where she was,” Salazar said, according to Law&Crime.
The investigation is ongoing. Spears is scheduled to appear in court on March 30.
