An elderly man in Tennessee is accused of going to another man’s home and shooting him, authorities said.
According to the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told investigators the suspect, identified as 84-year-old Jerry Sharrett, showed up at his Kingsport home on Nov. 27 and fired a gun at him, WJHL reported.
The man was struck and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The sheriff’s office later placed Sharrett under arrest and charged him with attempted first-degree murder.
The suspect was being held on a $250,000 bond at the Sullivan County jail.
Authorities have not released further details, including a possible motive for the shooting.
