Arkansas Homeless Man Accused Of Killing 73-Year-Old Woman In Her Apartment

A homeless man in Arkansas is accused of murdering an elderly woman in her home, authorities said.

On Oct. 27, police in Brinkley responded to the Sunset Apartments after receiving a report of a burglary, Arkansas State Police said.

The following day, the family of Shirley Bodkins, 73, found her murdered in her apartment, police said.

“While documenting the crime scene, special agents of the state police Criminal Investigation found evidence that led them to begin a search for 29-year-old Juwan Swanigan,” police said.

Officer located Swanigan on Oct. 29 and he was being held at the Monroe County jail on charges of capital murder, aggravated robbery, and burglary.

The investigation is ongoing.
