A 74-year-old registered sex offender has been arrested in Utah after reportedly dressing as Elmo and posing for photos at a farmers market, according to officials.

According to the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report that that Lehi Farmers Market was violating Utah County code and zoning ordinances.

On April 10, a detective was assigned to investigate the case and in doing so, learned that one of the Lehi Farmers Market operators, Larry Neff Jarvis, is listed on the Utah Sex Offender Registry.

Investigators determined Jarvis’ listed address on the registry is in Saratoga Springs, but he resides at the Lehi Farmers Market in Lehi.

Detectives talked to residents at his listed address in Saratoga Springs and they stated he has not lived there for at least three months, authorities said.

For sex offenders on the registry, they are required to update their address within three days of moving, officials said.

During the investigation, detectives also found social media posts of Jarvis dressed as Elmo from Sesame Street.

The Lehi Farmers Market reportedly hosts multiple children’s activities, such as tractor trailer rides, “candy drops” from a helicopter and a petting zoo, according to authorities. Registered sex offenders must have “written permission from the parents of any child being accompanied by that person.”

Jarvis was arrested on April 14 and booked into the Utah County Jail, officials said.

He was charged with failure to update sex offender registry address and sex offender violation in a protected area. He posted $5,000 bail and was released the same day.
