The trial is getting underway for the case of a Wisconsin man authorities said claimed he was “possessed” when he murdered his mother and a pet pit bull over a year ago.

The all-white jury selected on July 5 includes eight men and six women, according to Court TV.

On May 10, 2021, the day after Mother’s Day, Sean Pickett phoned 911 to report the slayings at the family’s home in Avoca.

Responding officers found Pickett with dried blood covering his pants, shirt and tennis shoes, and the bodies of his mother, Susan Pickett, 54, and the dog, Chico, in a pool of blood in a first-floor bedroom, police said in a complaint.

The complaint details how Pickett “initially stated he had been tied up and held hostage by his mother’s boyfriend, who he claimed had killed his mother and dog, ‘Chico,’” and then tried to frame him for the murders.

Picket, however, “subsequently admitted his story about being tied up did not really happen” and told police he had been “hearing evil voices” in his head, according to the document.

The suspect alleged he at one point “blacked out” and woke up “with evil inside,” according to the complaint.

He also claimed, “The evil in my head said I had to kill my mom and Chico in order to go to peace," authorities wrote in the complaint.

The document states Picket admitted he used a metal bar and knife to kill his mother and their dog.

He was arrested on one count each of first-degree intentional homicide and mistreatment of animals and faces up to life behind bars if convicted of the charges.
