A British woman was fatally shot by her father following an alleged argument over President Donald Trump, an inquest heard.

The victim, identified as Lucy Harrison, 23, was visiting her father in Dallas, Texas, when the shooting occurred.

Her boyfriend, Sam Littler, told the Cheshire Coroner’s Court that he heard a “big argument" between the two on January 10, 2025, days before Trump began his second presidency.

However, no criminal case was registered against Kris Harrison after a grand jury in Collin County, Texas declined to indict him.

The tragedy has left the Harrison family devastated.

What Happened?

Littler, who was holidaying in the United States with Harrison, said she would often become upset when her father expressed his desire to own a gun.

On the day of the shooting, she reportedly asked her father how he would feel if she had been sexually assaulted by Trump.

Kris Harrison reportedly replied that he had two other daughters living with him, suggesting it would not affect him as much. Littler said Harrison became “quite upset” and ran upstairs.

Littler told the court that later that day, about 30-minutes before they were to leave for the airport, Harrison was in the kitchen when Kris took her by the hand and led her into his ground-floor bedroom.

Littler said he heard a loud bang about 15 seconds later, and then Kris Harrison screamed for his wife, Heather Harrison. “I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom and Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense,” he said.

Kris Harrison said he and his daughter had been watching a news report on gun crime when he told her he owned a gun and asked if she wanted to see it. He said they then went into the bedroom, where he showed her a Glock 9mm semiautomatic handgun that he kept in a bedside cabinet.

He told the inquest he bought the gun for “family security” and claimed the shooting happened accidentally while showing it to his daughter.

He said he did not know whether his finger was on the trigger.

The accused, who had previously attended rehabilitation for alcohol addiction, admitted relapsing on the day of the shooting and drinking about 500 milliliters of white wine, according to a report by BBC News.

Kris Harrison said he “fully accepted” the consequences of his actions and that “there isn’t a day I don’t feel the weight of that loss, a weight I will carry for the rest of my life,” in a statement through his attorney, according to New York Post.

She Was A Real Force Of Life, Says Mother

Lucy Harrison was from Warrington, Cheshire, and her father had moved away to Texas when she was a child.

Harrison's mother, Jane Coates, described her late daughter as a “real force of life.”

“She cared. She was passionate about things. She loved to have debates about things that meant a lot to her,” she said.

“There is much to be learned about Lucy’s needless and avoidable death.”
