North Carolina Man, 79, Allegedly Shot His 39-Year-Old Son Dead At Home They Shared, Police Say

An elderly man allegedly shot and killed his son at the family’s home in North Carolina, authorities said.

Police in Supply took Edward Francis Devenish, 79, into custody in connection to the murder of 39-year-old Justin Devenish around 6:45 p.m. on April 5, Brunswick County officials said, WECT reported.

Police booked the elderly man into the Brunswick County jail on charges of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was being held without bond.

According to WECT, the suspect previously was sentenced to serve between 20 and 33 months behind bars after he pleaded guilty in 2004 to an assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury charge out of Cumberland County.
