Around 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 17, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee said deputies responded to the Jonesborough Flea Market after a call of a stabbing.

Once at the flea market, officers found a 23-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest, officials said.

The victim was in very serious condition and was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, according to authorities.

Officers talked with witnesses and determined the victim and 40-year-old Christopher B. Spears got into a fight.

According to witnesses, the two men got into multiple arguments during the day, but it finally turned into a physical fight and it ended with Spears stabbing the victim in the chest with a knife.

Investigators have not said what led to the arguments.

Officials found Spears close to the flea market and he was arrested, police said.

Spears was charged with attempted first-degree murder and was booked into the Washington County Detention Center. He is being held on $75,000 bond, officials said.
