A Florida man allegedly shot and killed another man after he attempted to buy his girlfriend a drink at the bar, officials said.

Witnesses said Lawrence Mitchell, 43, was arguing with the victim outside of the Seaside Bar and Grill in Riviera Beach on Valentine's Day because the victim was inside talking to Mitchell’s girlfriend and offered her a cocktail, WPBF reported.

Mitchell allegedly was seen reaching into his belt, pulling out a handgun, walking into the parking lot and shooting the victim, witnesses said.

One witness at the scene claimed they saw Mitchell then get into the passenger side of a gray Toyota Tacoma and leave the parking lot.

The shooting took place around 11 p.m. outside of the Sands Hotel, next to Seaside Bar and Grill. The victim later succumbed to his gunshot injury.

Investigators were able to obtain surveillance video from inside the bar, which allegedly confirmed the events leading up to the incident.

The video camera outside the building, however, was not working at the time of the deadly shooting, officials said.

After an extensive investigation and numerous tips, the Riviera Beach Police Department said they had probable cause to arrest Mitchell on Feb. 17 and charge him with second-degree murder.

“Those that commit violent crimes in our city will be held accountable," interim police chief Joshua Lewis said. "We will use all resources and investigative means necessary to make an arrest. This is the second arrest we’ve made within 48 hours of a homicide so far this month, and we are proud of that."
