A 3-year-old girl died from severe injuries and now two adults face charges, police said.
This week, police in St. Petersburg, Florida, announced the arrests of Monica Williams, 33, and Daquan Lindsey, 25. They were charged in connection to the murder of Brandy Crews, 3.
The two were the caregivers for the child, police said, though they did not offer further details of the relationship.
On Aug. 9, first responders took the girl to the hospital with severe head injuries.
She had other injuries, including cuts, burns and older and newer scars, police said. She died from her wounds on Aug. 12.
Investigators did not say how the child sustained the injuries.
Williams and Lindsey were both charged with murder. They also face child abuse and child neglect charges related to injuries to a young boy in their care, police said. That child’s wounds were non-life-threatening and the victim was removed from the home.
