The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office recently confirmed the arrest of a Democratic candidate in Florida who was running in a mayoral race. The 46-year-old now faces charges over alleged abuse of his elderly parents.

While the incident has been classified as domestic by authorities, the Palm Coast resident was arrested at his home. Body camera footage circulating on social media shows police arriving at his residence to arrest him at the scene.

Democrat Candidate Attacks Parents Over Fentanyl Consumption

Kevin Cichowski allegedly beat one of the elderly victims with a cane and threw a cellphone at the other during the attack on Friday. The incident occurred inside a riverside home in Palm Coast.

The two elderly victims are believed to be Cichowski’s parents. At the time of his arrest, Cichowski reportedly accused the two of being under the influence of fentanyl. He added that they were the ones who wanted to kill him.

Police Arrest Cichowski For Assault On Elderly

The relationship between Kevin Cichowski and the two elderly victims has not been confirmed. Meanwhile, police who arrested the Democratic mayoral candidate captured the arrest on body cameras. Authorities said Cichowski repeatedly made “nonsensical accusations” against the two elderly people during the arrest.

Kevin Cichowski’s Deranged Behavior During Arrest

Other clippings from the Florida resident’s arrest show him asserting that his parents “are going through a mental problem”. He further stated, “I can’t believe this is happening…Just don’t let me die. My father tried to kill me already.”

While the truth of the claims could not be investigated right on the spot, one of the officers could be heard placarding the mayoral candidate that they will definitely dig into these allegations.

Contrary to Cichowski’s accusations, the elderly victims had a completely different version of the statement. One of the duo, during their call to the operator, warned that Kevin had threatened to kill them both. The victim had further revealed that the 46-year-old even vowed to slaughter any law enforcement official who tried to intervene.

At the moment, Kevin Cichowski has been arrested on multiple charges. These include two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Additionally, he has his name on two counts of battery on a person over 65, aggravated battery with a weapon, tampering with a witness, and two counts of robbery by sudden snatching.

The Democrat is placed in protective custody under the umbrella of the Florida Baker Act. He had filed to run for governor of Florida back on March 24.
