Florida Man Accused Of Drugging, Assaulting 12-Year-Old Girl Who Asked Him For Cigarette

A Florida man was arrested after he allegedly drugged and assaulted a 12-year-old girl after she asked him for a cigarette, according to authorities.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said the girl reported to officers that she was assaulted multiple times on Feb. 25 in a hotel room in Destin.

The girl said she asked the man for a cigarette, but then he gave her what she believed to be crystal methamphetamine before assaulting her, the sheriff's office said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, but her condition has not been released.

Deputies were able to track down the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Jack Colton, and took him into custody around 2:00 a.m. on Feb. 26, officials said.

No details were shared on where the victim encountered the suspect, but Colton told investigators he believed the victim was 23 years old, according to authorities.

The sheriff's office said detectives found “potential evidence” in the motel room and they seized Colton’s truck.

Colton was charged with sexual assault with a victim between the ages of 12 and 18 and no bond has been set.
