One Victim’s Body Yet To Be Found
A 25-year-old man has been accused in the deaths of two doctoral students at the University of South Florida.
The accused has been identified as Hisham Abugharbieh, 25. He was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Zamil Limon and Nahida Bristy. The victims were doctoral students at the University of South Florida.
According to investigators, details about his crime surfaced after a review of his digital activity. Authorities revealed that in the days leading up to the murders, Abugharbieh allegedly searched online about evading law enforcement and getting rid of human remains. He allegedly asked ChatGPT whether a body could be placed in a dumpster.
Investigators believe that the victims were killed in mid-April after they went missing from the Tampa area. Limon’s body was discovered with multiple sharp force injuries. However, Bristy remains missing. She is presumed to be dead.
Authorities reportedly discovered blood traces on evidence collected from Abugharbieh’s home. Some personal belongings linked to the victims were also reportedly found. According to investigators, Bristy’s items were discovered in a trash compactor. The evidence led investigators to establish a strong case against the suspect.
DNA testing on a gray T-shirt found in the dumpster suggested that it likely belonged to Limon, while similar testing on a kitchen mat matched with Bristy’s DNA, according to a court filing.
