Florida Man Charged After Allegedly Stalking FedEx Driver, Shooting Him Multiple Times at Work Site

Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of FedEx Driver
Tyler Vidro, a Florida man, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated stalking after he allegedly shot a FedEx driver seven times.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by multiple outlets, including People and Law&Crime, on April 16, Vidro followed the victim’s truck, Nathaniel Padgett's truck to a distribution center in Riviera Beach and "emptied the magazine," while the victim’s girlfriend was present.

First-Degree Murder Charge Filed in FedEx Driver Killing
According to the arrest affidavit, following the incident, Padgett's girlfriend told authorities that she was riding in a FedEx truck on Florida's Turnpike with her boyfriend when Vidro allegedly pulled alongside them, "lowered his window and began shrugging his shoulders and raising his hand up, in an attempt to provoke a confrontation."
However, the victim ignored his actions and kept driving to the FedEx hub at 1177 W. Blue Heron Blvd, where he intended to drop off the truck.
The affidavit stated that Vidro stalked the couple to the hub, waited, and confronted Padgett after the victim parked his vehicle inside the private parking lot, entered the building and later walked toward his personal vehicle.
"Based on his behavior, Vidro appeared to be deliberately waiting for Padgett to exit the building," police stated in the affidavit. "Vidro had no lawful reason to be present on this restricted private property."
According to surveillance footage reviewed by authorities, as he confronted the victim, Vidro could be heard telling him, "You hit my car."
The affidavit reported that Padgett made a "clear attempt to disengage and leave the scene," and drove to another part of the parking lot, but was pursued by the defendant.
Padgett later "moved at a quick pace to the edge of the private roadway, where he retrieved a concrete block approximately the size of a bowling ball from the ground," walked to Vidro's car and said, "What’s up, I don’t give a f--- about that, you following me, I did not throw s--- at your car."
At that point, Vidro pulled out his gun and shot him seven times in the chest, abdomen, arm and leg.
"Vidro initiated the confrontation at a prior location, followed Padgett to his place of employment without authorization, positioned himself to intercept Padgett upon exit, physically maintained proximity when Padgett attempted to leave, and then pursued Padgett's vehicle when Padgett drove away," police stated.
Subsequently, Padgett’s girlfriend called 911, telling the dispatcher, "My boyfriend just got shot! We’re at the FedEx warehouse!", according to call records obtained by WPBF.
"I'm going to die, baby," Padgett said.
In response, his girlfriend said, "No, you're not! You're not! Come on! You're not!"
Padgett was later rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Following the shooting, Vidro reportedly called authorities and admitted the shooting, but claimed he did so because he feared for his life.
"I didn't think to call you guys, but the lawyer told me to," Vidro allegedly told police.
"The pattern of behavior documented in this investigation — including Vidro tracking Padgett and [his girlfriend] across multiple locations, appearing uninvited at a restricted private property, and repeatedly closing distance despite Padgett's attempts to withdraw — is consistent with the elements of aggravated stalking," authorities stated. "Florida law does not extend Stand Your Ground protections to a person engaged in criminal activity at the time force is used."
